I Vitelloni (1953)
There is something comforting in seeing a film that is more than 70 years old, also depiction the young generation as lacking the motivation to mature and take responsibility. “Young people these days” is eternal. Here we get the Italian version of this aimless period in life filled with struggle to really move forward. Desperately clinging to the free form taking each day as they come mentality, and only slowly realizing how it doesn’t work anymore. Add some great cinematography and stylistic directing from Fellini and you get this.
