Before Sunset (2004)

More than three years since I saw this, and not a bad idea to remind myself to allow the romantic side in me surface. This film balances itself in an impossible fine edge, where it could go one millimeter to one side and be unbelievable or to another and be too corny. It is sort of structured as a romantic fairy tale, but I still 100% believe it. It is not too much, or too little. The chemistry between Hawke and Delpy is unmatched, and the only other “one true love”-story I can get misty eyed to, is Niles and Daphne from the sitcom Frasier.

Re-reading my first review, I see how analytical and “objective” I was trying to be. I really just just floored by the romanticism of it and it is easier to see and admit now. I met my wife when we were both 15, and we have been together for 25 years, so I can believe in the one true love. Just so rare for a film, and vitally actors to have the on screen chemistry, to make it believable.
