Wild at Heart (1990)
In some manner this was almost like watching a battle between Cage and Lynch. I was totally on board with Dern and Cage, their wild road trip, chemistry and just having fun. Then there was the almost completely different parallel film, with Lynch’s surreal Oz-inspired Twin Peaks-like plot, which I know needed to be there and it was fine, but I really just wanted to go back to Cage and Dern. Cage is an actor that to me is defined entirely by impulse. There is no inner monologue or state of mind to decipher from him. He is 100% reaction and impulsiveness. And this is a prime example of this.
