Violent Saturday (1955)
Bank heist mixed with domestic melodrama in glorious CinemaScope. The film establishes a handful of barely connected character threads, involving bank robbers, managers with family problems and a peeping tom. For a while I was mostly waiting for these things to connect, and unsurprisingly it all leads up to the bank robbery. The last act is in a different gear, with kidnapping and a good shootout. Every melodramatic plot thread gets a nice wrapup in the aftermath of the heist, some a bit moralizing and some was more earned than others, but a good ride none the less.
