Spectre (2015)
I am a pretty casual Bond fan, as in I see them in theaters (since GoldenEye) when they come, but rarely revisits them. Brosnan is still the right Bond for me as he is the one I grew up with, but I respect the changes they did with Craig. It was a much needed overhaul for the character. Though I think they took it too far in Skyfall. I don’t think Bond as a character or concept can hold up to a narrative that rely so much on personal character back story. For that reason I kinda like Quantum of Solace, as it despite its obvious issues, it was more in line with classic Bond spectacle. And Spectre is halfway a return to form after the sidetracked Skyfall. Bit more fun again. And the anti-surveillance narrative is as relevant as ever. But the whole agents going rogue story isn’t something I think was necessary, and Rogue Nation did it better. Highlight of this was by a good margin Léa Seydoux and Ralph Fiennes. Craig is serviceable but also very anonymous here.
