Lux Æterna (2019)
Gaspar Noé delivers a truly loud, disorienting, obnoxious and chaotic bizarre meta-art film through and through. I would love to have seen this in a theater, because this will clearly benefit from a total experience with its massive attack on all senses. Noé’s intent here is pretty clearly readable. The entire thing is filled to the brim with mysogonic elements. The whole framing is witches getting burned at the stake, with a nightmare of a film production with a chaotic witch burning that also treats woman terribly and justify all the mistreatment in the sake of art. I am pretty sure Noé is in some capacity including himself in this satire of the film industry and its view on woman, as he has made the most disturbing rape scene in film history - all in the name of art.
