Vigilante (1982)
There is absolute no subtlety about vigilanitism in this film. Premise is well known with a failed justice system and a man taking the revenge upon himself, but the point is dealt with a sledgehammer and turned all the way up. A group of violent low-life scums almost stabs a woman to death and kill the 4 year old kid with a shotgun just for fun, and of course the justice system sets them free on a plea bargain. The surviving husband gets 30 days in jail for not behaving himself properly in court over the ridiculous sentence, and the rest mostly writes itself. In its own right, I can respect films that are 100% unapologetic on where they stand and the result is entertaining as such, though I don’t think it gets its tone totally right. Sort of like it has the deadly serious moral injustice of the first Death Wish, but with almost ridiculous laughable villains that become a parody of themselves like in Death Wish 3, just without the humor.
