Maniac (1980)
I got strong giallo vibes from this. Similar main premise with a serial with suppressed trauma and a fetish for killing young woman with big knives. Everything here is quite disturbing and messed up. But unlike the Italian counterparts, there is little mystery or creative style beyond the gore. We know everything almost from the start, and the film does drag for long stretches as the random killings become repetitive - despite the impressive blood work by Savini.
