Lady Snowblood (1973)

I got a deep appreciation for this film. It is very poetic, filled with beautiful colors, an aura of old legend with its chapter narrative structure and one of the most beautiful title songs. Despite being a revenge plot, it doesn’t really feel like one, as the non-linear pattern more resembles a tragic predetermined fate. For all its qualities, and the impressive blood spatter, I did find myself falling in and out of engagement. Not bored, just indifferent at times. This genre share a lot with westerns, and I am likely just more into gun duels than sword duels at the end of the day.
