Logan Lucky (2017)
Soderbergh delivers a cozy, loveable, hangout heist film. It doesn’t have the millimeter precision and competence porn levels of the Ocean’s series, but it has something else - distinct lovable characters, “Americana” NASCAR setting, a funky score, and a humor that strikes a perfect balance of being genuinely funny without falling into the “goofy criminals” tropes. They are accidentally falling into success, just more loose and adaptive to their surroundings. Despite ending with the almost cheesy “reveal everything that was artificially withheld for the viewer”-trope, I didn’t feel cheated - because throughout the whole ordeal there was kept an honest trait of something not being entirely right that I just couldn’t exactly put my finger on.
