Old Joy (2006)

A nice little quiet mood piece on pivotal life moments and growing apart. While it is upcoming fatherhood that sets things going for Mark, it isn’t really about that I think. It is more about him settling with what he actually wants. Big parts of this film is told through body language, with Mark wants to be there and also sort of don’t, and Kurt is clearly a lot more relaxed, but also not really moving forward like Mark is in the process of doing. For a display in subtle minimalist storytelling it was interesting, but not really something that resonates with me.
