Three Days of the Condor (1975)
This one really captures the paranoia and cynicism towards government institutions. Not as thrilling as Marathon, but it feels larger in scope with its cynical world view. Heavily underlined with the ending that completely any sense of higher purpose. It is all corruption and money in the end. The movie drags a bit at times, but has enough memorable elements to be a classic. I especially liked the old school phone hacking. My biggest complaint is with the trope of the woman falling in love with her kidnapper, and that she isn’t very interesting as a character and just serves as a emotional support for Redford’s paranoia.
