The Enforcer (1976)

Interesting how it reverses the premise yet again after Magnum Force and now we are back to the original concept of the police being too soft - would probably have been using the term woke if this was made today.

Not that Dirty Harry has ever been very subtle or nuance, but this one was extremely on the nose and outright pedantic with a very inexperienced female officer getting thrown into everything for no good reason. The film does occasionally acknowledge the misogyny, but it never gives a flattering depiction of the female officer. She does redeem herself a bit in the end, but it doesn’t really work and the film still gives the overall impression that woman have no place in the police force. Individual scenes work well enough on their own, but the domestic terrorists are just token bad guys, lacking everything that made the antagonists interesting from the previous two films.
