Touch of Evil (1958)

Orson Welles sure know how to make black and white look great. It is the most noir-looking film ever. Welles himself is a menacing presence in every scene, from every angle and he brings so much to his character that he overshadows Charlon Heston - not an easy feat! The only one who can rival Welles is Marlene Dietrich. It is also one of those cases where I can’t find anything outright wrong, as everything is handled competently and remarkably well, but on a personal level - noir films rarely engage me on a deeper level.
