The Phoenician Scheme (2025)

The style and humor was closer to Asteroid City which explains why I liked it more than Wes’ older films. His films have never attempted at anything resembling realism, but this presents itself as even more of a completely constructed reality than the others. I really enjoyed the absurd humor, where the whole narrative is like a mocking satire of elaborate business schemes and spy thrillers. While Wes clearly commits do doing his own thing again, it does tend to get a tad repetitive now. I hope he can reinvent himself soon.
