The Accused (1988)

Clearly one of Jodie Foster’s best roles with a harrowing story on the treatment of rape victims in the American justice systems. Everything here is very straight forward with loud and clear intentions and messages, which make seeing this today - at least for me - mostly just me shaking my head in agreement. It didn’t challenge anything, didn’t present ambiguity or subvert any expectations. That doesn’t take anything from what this movie does, but it is also for and from a different time.
