Nomadland (2020)

What I particularly liked about this is how portrayed the nomadic lifestyle with respect and curiosity, not with pity. The plot is minimal, but it was simply a very serene experience to be in the company of these people. McDormand and Strathairn are fantastic and perfectly blend in with the included non-actors. Though it also feels like the film has two parallel narratives going on, with the main acted story so to speak, and the various personal real life tales McDormand’s character get to listen to. It is almost like a documentary within a feature film. A bit of an odd choice, because I think the approach could have been a really interesting documentary in itself, but it also just shows great film making when the two merges into something unique and beautifully well shot on a small budget.
