Some Like It Hot (1959)
This was an absolute hoot. I don’t think I have laughed so much to a movie in quite a while. The humor isn’t dated at all, even though we have seen tons of variations in film and tv it has influenced. It still feels progressive after all these years, with how it literally shows how it is to be a man in a woman’s shoes. It is way more than just gags from all the scenes that almost writes themselves given the premise, but filled with details that has something to say about gender roles, romantic relationships, keeping up pretenses and job security. Not that I should be surprised, but it is no wonder Billy Wilder is one of the all time greats.
