Open Range (2003)
Never have a western been this green. There is something serene and calm about the look of this movie, and it transfers to the action as well. The narrative is well known brutal territory for the genre with deadly conflict between corrupt land owners and cattle rangers. The violence sneaks up on them, against their will, but they feel no other choice than to fight for what is right. In that way it is rather one-sided, but it works for what it sets out to do. The grand finale should be the standard every other western should look to.
