Sisters (1972)
Early De Palma, and for the most part, that is what makes it interesting. We see his unique film techniques and style being experimented with here, with some clear inspiration from Hitchcock and perhaps giallo films, which he later came to master fully in his career. The film is off to a good start, setting up a proper unsettling mystery of a main character. However, the whole investigation part dragged somewhat, and the end twists things around to the next level. Again, I can’t help but think of giallo, as it follows a similar narrative pattern and psychological themes.
