Halloween (1978)
I have never really been interested in the whole 80s horror slasher films with Jason, Freddy or Myers, but it is hard to avoid their far reaching influences. I knew this probably wouldn’t be that scary to watch today, and it wasn’t, but it was still an enjoyable interesting watch to see where it all started so to speak. The origin story of Michael Myers was more interesting than I thought it would, and the narrative style with the doctor gave me some X-Files vibes. This class of horror film is not going to be my thing, and I likely won’t seek out any of the rest of the franchise, but I really appreciate the pure simplicity of this classic. It relies heavily on buildup and waiting for the inevitable to happen.
