Bridesmaids (2011)
I probably wont have seen this if it wasn’t on the NYT top 100 list, and while I did have some laughs with this sort of female version of “The Hangover”, I think it only halfway works. It has a pretty good start with how characters are introduced, and with how we get the unfiltered female perspective on the dating game. The narrative unfolds into a blend of classic romcom with gross cringe comedy, which I don’t think really work together. I definitely didn’t laugh much in those scenes, but did enjoy the more “normal” romcom passages. Kristen Wiig does make it all worthwhile in the end though.
