KPop Demon Hunters (2025)
I am probably also the exact opposite of whatever the target audience for this is, and my rating is sort of meaningless. To start with, I must say that the songs are cool, the concert scenes are pretty engaging. I just cant wrap my head around the constant need for heavy exposition or characters basically explaining the plot and what happens as it happens. Any sort of attempt at coherent narrative are just thrown out the window and replaced with “stuff just happens”. I also dont understand the praise for the animation style. It is serviceable, but sort of looks like a trailer for freemium mobile game. My kids love the songs, which is why we watched the movie. They still enjoy the songs and can happily engage in a singalong, but I haven’t heard them talking about the story in any way either.
