A Great Friend (2023)
I was confused as the first minute had the look of a business commercial, but it sets off the main contrast of the film about a CEO who has a car breakdown in the middle of the road in the alps and who gets help by a man living alone in a self built house in the mountains. It evokes something repressed in the otherwise successful CEO, and a fairly straightforward predictable narrative unfolds with the different worldviews meeting and learning from each other.
The main highlight of this is the beautiful scenery. Living alone in the mountains has never looked so romanticized. Reality is probably a bit harsher. I wasn’t particular charmed by this relationship between these two opposites, especially as the CEO hardly has any redeeming qualities about him, though you can say that is a point of sorts. It’s a rather harmless film, that neither provokes, challenges or offends the viewer.
