Bad Lieutenant (1992)

This movie certainly lived up to its name. Harvey Keitel is an all round terrible cop, terrible human being and all kinds of severely broken. This makes it a somewhat challenging watch as his behaviour overshadows any plot there might be. Which is the point as Keitel’s performance is what makes this worth watching and I appreciate the film for how slimy and dirty an entry it is in the “corrupt broken police”-subgenre. Usual those have some saving grace for the main character , but there is none of that here. I guess I also didn’t really connect with the religious themes present.
