Moonlight (2016)
This is a good film, but its reputation with not only its Oscar but also it being on several “best of all time”-type lists made me expect something a bit more groundbreaking. I found it strongest in the second half, when we start to really see the complexities and uncertainties in the relationship between Kevin and Chrion. The parts where he is young man and a kid felt a tad too simplistic in its portrayal of his struggles.
