Companion (2025)
I got recommended this as something to watch without knowing anything before. I did and it did allow for a little twist surprise about 15 minutes, and while it is usually a good idea to watch a movie knowing as little as possible, I don’t think the premise is that big of a deal to avoid any kind of spoilers.
It is a humanoid android story with the usual things that go wrong when you break the 3 laws of robotics. As soon as that was established I became a bit more skeptical, because that is something we have seen many times before and I was afraid it would just be yet another long list of predictable plot points. While it is fairly straight forward and doesn’t bring anything massively ground breaking, I did enjoy it simply for being good fun and well paced. It doesn’t try to be philosophical or super serious like After Yang, but delivers in fun twists and plot developments that does manage to surprise and go places I didn’t quite expect.
