The Suspicious Death of a Minor (1975)
Seeing so many spaghetti westerns, I have wanted to explore other Italian niche genres, especially the giallo and poliziotteschi films. This feels like a great starting point for both actually. Starts with a gruesome knife murder of a young woman and proceeds with a fast paced undercover cop investigation narrative. I really need to underline how fast things move here. There is constant plot movement and action, no time wasted on exposition or character development. Who needs that anyway? It is incredibly entertaining, but also pretty tragic. Things do get resolved, though not without terrible cost. It has that cynical worldview that is also seen in so many spaghetti westerns. Suffice to say, I need to see more of these types of films.
