Fort Yuma Gold (1966)

Many westerns utilizes the civil war in some fashion, but this does it a bit more directly than others I have seen. An imprisoned confederate soldier gets a special mission with the goal of stopping confederate soldiers in a foolish attempt to raid Fort Yuma, because it will end in a bloodbath. Most of the Italian westerns in this era didn’t generally show much care for the great loss of human lives. The whole plot here is more sympathetic in that it wants to avoid needless many deaths, and we also see more people genuinely beg for their lives here and when people is shot and killed, it is taken more seriously than usual. It is a rather serious film on the whole without goofy scenes. With some exceptions like a spectacular saloon fist fight that is hilariously entertaining. In addition, this movie also comes with a pretty good score that deserves to be more well known.
