Queen of Earth (2015)
This was really indie, probably too much for my taste. I can definitely appreciate how great Elisabeth Moss is, though not exactly sure what she is portraying. Clearly a form of depression or mental breakdown, and the contrast between the two summers is interesting with her friend played by Katherine Waterston. I see other reviewers seeing it is an inspection into codependency and dysfunctional friendship, but I had a hard time connecting with that as I didn’t get a sense that these two women have ever been on good terms. I miss a piece of a puzzle about how their relationship was previously to get a perspective on the messy present. So yeah, the acting is great, but I failed to get much out of this.
