Hour of the Gun (1967)
Another film taking on the story of Wyatt Earp, this one claiming to be historically accurate. I am not particularly interested in the history of this conflict, which explains my muted excitement for this otherwise competently made western. I liked how it deals with the aftermath and not the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, and at times it became almost a legal drama. It is not simply gunfights and assassination attempts, though plenty of those too, but also the legalities of having the rights to make arrests (or kills). However, it drags a bit and as I didn’t know much beforehand about this historical rivalry, it was difficult to be engaged as the movie don’t provide much background information.
