I'm Not a Robot (2023)
The simple premise of this sounded intriguing and I was curious what they could get out of it. Having someone realizing they might be a robot from these well known, and hated, CAPTCHAs, is a fun idea, but not the best premise for a narrative. You don’t have to think much about its ramifications to see that it isn’t a very logical world it creates, where robots are released to regular life not knowing they are robots and apparently commonly realizing it by interacting with a simple CAPTCHA on the web. That hardly seems like a viable way of handling these robots.
However, looking past that, this short film does try to unpack some interesting philosophical themes on free will and personal rights of artificial sentience. The problem is that those concepts are mostly just said through dialogue, and not really felt through the emotional state of the character.
