Afire (2023)
Very mundane narrative, yet somehow very compelling. It is a character study of a struggling writer that lacks self insight maturity. He is not portrayed without sympathy as some of circumstances he gets trapped in, made me partially understand him. I find this way of portraying a character to be really interesting as it gives room for a ton of nuances, as we gradually get to understand his insecurity which doesn’t excuse his occasionally rude behaviour, but it provides context. Paula Beer is remarkably charming and captivating. I want to see more of her roles now.
