First Cow (2019)

Like with Certain Women this was a slow open book of a movie. Every scene is giving way more time that we are used to and its themes of friendship and commentary on capitalism are simply laid out there, without giving any clear answers for the viewers. This is an approach to filmmaking I often like, but this time is was too distanced to really provoke my thoughts or feelings. Certain Women managed to that with how things wrapped up, thematically of not narratively, in the end. First Cow is however very much a “fill in the blanks” things and I just didn’t manage to get much out of it.
