Independence Day (1996)
I think blockbusters as a style of BIG movies peaked in the 90s. This and Jurassic Park is the pinnacle of how to blockbusters the right way. I don’t think I have seen this since the VHS days, but it looks stunning on bluray. Effects hold up and the CGI is used an appropriate amount. Yes, it is full of logical plotholes, but it doesn’t matter when the entertainment factor is this high. It has been said a thousand times before, but that presidential speech is historic. Could the US please elect a president like that next time?
