Jackie (2016)
Natalie Portman carries her role to perfection. It is a very up close and personal character study rather than a historical depiction of the events, which I think is the films greatest strength. It is about Jackie, her grief and her way of dealing with that grief by doing her best ensuring that her husband will be remembered. Even though we only her follow her for a few dramatic days, I do think we get a pretty good grasp of who Jackie was. You don’t need a lifelong biopic to get a good character study onto film.
