The Virgin Suicides (1999)

This beautiful film was so many different conflicting at once. Teenage suicide is a pretty heavy subject in itself, but the film doesn’t feel heavy. But it doesn’t make light of the situation either. It is incredibly tragic yet also full of love, beauty and youthful thirst for life. I don’t think I have seen many movies that could handle so many dissonant themes at once and make it work so well together.
