The Old Way (2023)
Didn’t know anything about this other than it was a western with Nicolas Cage, which is a combination that is at least worth giving a chance. And it was decent enough to be worth the time. It has a clear direct to VOD quality to its production to it, which is almost a charm in itself I have a soft spot for when it comes to western. Though it doesn’t reach the level of the various HBO westerns.
While the script is as cliché as they come for the genre, I did quite like it. It is a simple yet effective story. However it’s attempt at emotionel depth falls a bit flat as Cage isn’t really up for the task.
