Dead Poets Society (1989)

I assume this is the type of film where people will have different personal takeaways from it. The school and coming of age aspect is the most central, but for me it was especially Keating’s inspirational talks about the meaning of poetry and art that affected me. His arrival to the school is greatly contrasted with all the science classes such as chemistry, and his classes give another perspective on what is important. I haven’t had much interesting in reading poetry, but I do now!

While I did like the ending with how it effectively underlines the overall theme, it was also a tad cheesy and melodramatic, so not a film that moved me deeply, but I understand why it is so universally loved.
