The Maltese Falcon (1941)

A classic noir for many good reasons with its influential style, convoluted plot and most of all Bogart bringing his best. However somehow I expected more. It is technically all very good but also quite mechanical. I think it lacks atmosphere, even though all the elements are there. There is some interesting cinematography, but most of it just takes place inside apartments, so what we are looking gets a tad boring. Also, the whole premise with everyone being after a valuable item wasn’t a super compelling starting point tor an engaging story for me. Liked everything else though, especially Bogart.
