Bride of Frankenstein (1935)

After all the neighborhoods kids have emptied our bowls of candy, it was nice settling down with this classic. It is an improvement over the 1931 first film. There is more depth and varirity to the story. It may be theatrical and a bit cliched now, but the scene with the blind hermit are incredibly profound in their simplicity and joy for a simple human friendship. Pretorius is even more nuts and all the mad scientist gadgets are bigger and more spectacular. Plenty of good looking gothic imagery on top of an interesting story.
