Mulholland Drive (2001)
Seeing it again in a packed theater was a big improvement compared to my first watch. The experience was improved knowing what it was and this time around I could appreciate all parts for their different strengths. It is more coherent and most things actually ties well together in the end. At least as much as a Lynch film can allow. I could better enjoy and laugh at all the Hollywood satire now, and I was surprised how much of it there actually was. That wasn’t my main takeaway the first time, where I was more focused on the lost identity theme. I am still not overly interested in going into the deep end of interpretations, though I do like the Möbius strip angle as it fits well with the general atmosphere of Lynch that refrains from straight answers.
