One Fine Morning (2022)
This has many similarities with Things to come and it is totally understandable to criticize Mia Hansen-Løve for making such a movie about similar themes with a familiar structure in the script, but I personally don’t mind. I think it works amazingly well again and I love how she can make a film about otherwise heavy themes on dementia, illness, family dilemmas wrapped in a complex love story, and still make it all feel so comfortable, hopeful and full of love for life. Like the complete opposite of Haneke with the same script. Léa Seydoux is besides simply being nice company on the screen, perfectly captures all the dilemmas she has to deal with, where she struggles with the balance of taking care of her ill father while also acknowledging her need for new love in her life. I can see this as my comfort food.
