The Return of Godzilla (1984)
I can’t fault anything in the script here. The serious cold-war tone is well done and the inclusion of Godzilla in greater political conflict between the US and Soviet-union and their nuclear weapons fits well together. But there is just something lacking. It isn’t very exciting despite the destruction being just as devastating as in the first one. Godzilla doesn’t look that menacing. Being in full color doesn’t help either. The black and white noir look felt scarier.
