Midnight Cowboy (1969)
Really surprising tender and sad film that by winning Best Picture sparked the change Hollywood would undergo in the coming years. What especially impressed me was how it conveyed loneliness in gritty poverty-stricken New York. Add some experimental almost Lynchian editing and you got a film very much ahead of its time. I loved seeing the tender loving relationship unfold between Hoffman and Voight, challenging traditional ideas about masculinity and sexuality.
