The Red Balloon (1956)
We had some time to kill before dinner and watched this with my five year old daughter. It is in itself an impressive feat than a short film that is almost 70 years old can manage to capture the attention of a child, that is used to modern kids show with their extreme tempo and fast cuts. The story is simple and works without words. The visuals directs where the attention should be with the balloon being the source of joy in this rather dreary version of Paris.
