The African Queen (1951)

At its core, this is a decently entertaining adventure with two colorful characters alone on a boat. It has some doses of humor and plenty of exciting scenes, that never gets too dangerous. For me it was just a case of not really working. The acting seems hokey, even for its era, especially knowing the two can do so much better. Their friendly resentment towards each other in the beginning had its moments, but that charm was gone once they fell in love. While plenty of things happen on their tumultuous boat ride, nothing much really interesting happened in a way that could make it feel complete.
