Seraphim Falls (2006)

Brosnan did it 9 years before DiCaprio with this brutal fight for survival in the unforgiving cold mountains. I like how we just jump straight into the chase with no clue on why this guy is hunting to kill that other guy. The mystery works for a while, but is also stretched a bit thin until the explanation comes quite late into the film. It was still entertaining enough to keep me hooked the entire runtime though. I am still not sure what to make of the surreal ending, where it effectively reduces the chase to its minimal bare components. Assumingly there is a message on redemption, revenge and letting go of the past here, but I don’t think it is entirely successful in its own high ambitions on the subject.
