Yannick (2023)

A pretty crazy setup for a single location hostage situation. Not familiar with Quentin Dupieux but I liked the absurd humor and Raphaël Quenard nails it as Yannick, the confident and very demanding self-absorbed straight up crazy person. The satire works on sort of a deconstructing of the expectations between artists and their audience with a total breakdown of communication. The commentary is pretty surface level and I don’t see any deeper thoughts at play here, but I did it find generally pretty funny with the added joy of having a story that you couldn’t tell where it was going.
