Collateral (2004)

Tom Cruise should really play more bad guys. He is actually pretty cool as an assassin here, though the real star is Jamie Foxx. I really digged the whole “streets of the city night” atmosphere in this. The first cab ride with Jada sets a friendly cozy mood, only to be shattered a few minutes later. I loved how the story flowed dynamically with the two in the cab and all the people following their trail a few steps behind. Mann executes things well here, but I do think it is stretched at least 20 minutes longer than it needs to. The plot development becomes too far fetched for their own good, but still entertaining from start to finish.
